Quartz & Porcelain Worktop Care & Maintenance Guide

Daily Cleaning

Keeping your worktops looking their best is simple with regular care.

  • Wipe surfaces daily using a soft cloth or microfibre cloth with warm water and a small amount of mild washing-up liquid.
  • Rinse with clean water and dry with a soft cloth to prevent streaks.
  • Clean up spills promptly, particularly coffee, tea, wine, fruit juice, oils and strongly coloured foods.
  • Avoid abrasive scouring pads, steel wool and harsh chemical cleaners, as these may dull the surface over time.

Removing Tough Stains

For dried-on food or stubborn marks:

  • Use a non-abrasive cream cleaner or a cleaner specifically designed for quartz or porcelain surfaces.
  • Allow the cleaner to sit on the stain for a few minutes before wiping away with a soft cloth.
  • For stubborn food residue, carefully use a plastic scraper held at a shallow angle.
  • Rinse thoroughly with clean water and dry the surface.

Avoid: Oven cleaners, paint strippers, caustic soda, drain cleaners, hydrofluoric acid and highly abrasive cleaning products.

Heat Resistance

Quartz Worktops

Quartz is highly durable but is not completely heat resistant. The resins used in its manufacture can be damaged by excessive heat.

  • Always use a trivet, heat mat or pan stand for hot pans, roasting trays, slow cookers and air fryer baskets.
  • Placing hot cookware directly onto a quartz worktop may cause thermal shock, discolouration or permanent surface damage that cannot be repaired.

Porcelain Worktops

Porcelain offers excellent heat resistance and can withstand much higher temperatures than quartz.

  • Porcelain is manufactured at extremely high temperatures, making it highly resistant to heat and thermal shock.
  • While porcelain can generally tolerate hot cookware better than quartz, we still recommend using trivets or heat mats whenever possible to protect both the worktop and cookware, and to maximise the life of the installation.

Good Practices

  • Use a chopping board when preparing food to protect knives and the worktop.
  • Avoid dropping heavy or sharp objects onto edges or corners.
  • Do not stand or sit on the worktop.
  • Wipe up spills as soon as possible to keep the surface looking its best.

Enjoy Your Worktop for Years to Come

With simple day-to-day care, both quartz and porcelain worktops will retain their beauty and performance for many years. Regular cleaning, sensible use and protecting surfaces from unnecessary impact or extreme heat will help keep your investment looking as good as new.
